As part of Leipzig Chance for Science, several digital teaching conferences between lecturers at the University of Leipzig and partners at the Ukrainian universities Donetsk NTU, VN Karazin Kharkiv and Sumy State University took place in December 2022. Due to the attacks on the infrastructure in Ukraine, not all lecturers and students were able to attend the planned date in early December, so several dates were organised in smaller groups. The aim of the conferences was to exchange experiences gained from teaching. The feedback from the students also flowed into the inter-university exchange between the project partners. In total, six courses consisting of seminars (2 SWS) and integrated exercises (2 SWS) were conducted in pair teaching by lecturers from the University of Leipzig and the Ukrainian lecturers in the Leipzig Chance for Science project from September 2022. 110 Ukrainian students took advantage of the courses offered and earned 10 ECTS credits by successfully completing the courses. The examination performance consisted of a ten-page research report by the students.
Despite the circumstances, the teaching conference was a complete success. The participants discussed various topics, including the implementation of digital teaching formats and possibilities for future cooperation. Feedback from the students also flowed into the discussion and thus contributed to a broad exchange of experiences.
The Leipzig Chance for Science project team would like to thank all participants for their active participation and commitment to teaching. Together we have developed and implemented innovative teaching-learning formats in difficult times. We look forward to further joint projects and hope for long-term cooperation.
